Rosa Abbiento's pieces seek to gather natural materials (SHORE stones, MEADOW flowers and wood) that together express a sense of place but that also allude to the eternal process of change. Each stone bears the unique expression of its place found and to mark its home, the polar coordinates are engraved on silver and gold tags as a marker of its connection to the land.
Talis' core business practices are focused on both social justice and economic empowerment for indigenous peoples. We work directly with artisan cooperatives in Thailand. When working with the silver jewellery by the Karen hill tribe people, it is with emphasis on preserving the indigenous traditional silver techniques for the next generation. We focus on marketing avenues for these artisan communities, as well as contemporary and fashionable designs with traditional detail. I am also a local designer who assembles sterling silver jewellery using beads and pendants made by the Karen Hill Tribe artisans of Northern Thailand.
